How To Download and use the Endomondo GPS Tracking App...
We use the Endomondo app to track all of our walks. We then make the route publicly available and provide a link to it with every walking route so that you can download our route and follow it on your smartphone or tablet without the need to carry printed instructions around with you.
The app is available for Android, Windows and iOS users via your app store. Just search for ‘Endomondo’ or click the logos to the right to go to your app store. Best of all, it’s FREE.
Ensure you have Endomondo app installed on your device, you have registered with an account and are logged in. Also ensure that your GPS is activated and you have an internet connection (data or WiFi).
Open the Endomondo app.
Click the button that looks like three small, horizontal lines (circled red, located in the upper left corner)
Select the option called ‘Routes’ (circled red)
Select the tab entitled ‘nearby routes’ to see all routes located close to your current location. You will need to have your GPS turned on.
Locate the walking route that you wish to follow. It should be named something similar, or identical, to the name of the walking route page you found on this site. Select it.
A summary of the walk will now be presented on the screen, including the best times set by anyone who has completed the route. At this point, click the star to add the route to your ‘favourites’ and click on ‘follow route’ to load the route into your Endomondo app.
Click the play button (circled red) to begin live tracking.
Instead of reading pages of ambiguous written instructions you’ve printed off of the internet, all you now need to do is have a quick check of your app’s live tracking to make sure you’re following the route correctly!
